    TERRIBLE customer service.

TERRIBLE customer service. You have to wait for hours on the phone. They drop the call, you have to start over. I have little respect left for them.

    Warning for international travelers…

Warning for international travelers buying “flight protection” through Expedia / Travel Guard. I purchased travel protection for my Barcelona → Phuket trip through Expedia (itinerary 73453990074831). Before traveling, I simply asked for: * my policy certificate, * full coverage details, * and clarification about what was actually covered. Travel Guard refused to answer by email and repeatedly told me to call a U.S. phone number. The problem: I am currently in France and my mobile plan does not allow international calls to the United States. I explained this multiple times and requested written documentation instead. Expedia then told me they could not help because the insurance is handled by Travel Guard, and eventually ended the support chat without resolving the issue. As a customer, I find it unacceptable that: * policy documents are difficult to obtain, * support depends on calling a U.S. number, * and international travelers may be unable to verify their coverage before departure. If you purchase travel insurance through Expedia, make sure you receive and download the full policy certificate immediately after purchase. Otherwise, you may have difficulty confirming what is actually covered. Just sharing my experience so other travelers can be careful.

    Awful website

Awful website! Tried booking a holiday numerous times but keep declining all my payment methods. Said I need to search again, did this about 5 times! Charged my klarna twice and haven't cancelled it and I can't get hold of them on the phone! Rubbish platform, stay away!

Disappointing Booking Transparency and Refund Handling by Expedia

I booked a family stay through Expedia for 2 adults and 2 children under a rate presented as including dinner. When we attended dinner at the hotel, I was unexpectedly informed that dinner was only included for the two adults and that I had to pay an additional AED 150 for my children. This was embarrassing and frustrating, as I booked the room for my family and did not understand from the booking presentation that the children would be excluded from the meal inclusion. After the stay, I contacted Expedia and explained the issue in detail. Expedia later advised that the dinner-included rate applied only to two adults and refused my request to refund the additional AED 150 charge. My complaint is not about the hotel applying the instruction it had received. My concern is that Expedia’s booking information did not make this limitation sufficiently clear to me before completing a family booking. Had it been clear that dinner was excluded for the children, I could have made an informed choice before paying. I also found the customer service process disappointing. I had to explain the same issue repeatedly through emails and calls, provide the hotel invoice showing the AED 150 charge, and still received no satisfactory resolution. Based on my experience, I would advise families booking meal-inclusive rates through Expedia to check very carefully whether the advertised meal benefit applies to every guest in the reservation, especially children, before confirming payment. I hope Expedia improves the clarity of its family booking information and handles genuine customer complaints in a more practical and customer-focused manner.

    $1,000+ WASTED

I booked a flight in FEBRUARY of this year. I was traveling to Oklahoma to visit family at the end of May. My initial flight had some delays due to weather, but no complications otherwise. As for my departing flight, I arrived at the OKC airport TWO AND A HALF HOURS before my connecting flight. I approached the American Airlines service desk to check in, and was informed that Expedia had DROPPED MY ITINERARY, and to contact them. I sat on the phone with Expedia’s customer service for AN HOUR only to be told it was American Airlines doing. This is NOT POSSIBLE as Expedia has no contact with the airline companies it services. I had to purchase another flight FOR $675 because I HAVE A JOB I NEED TO TEND TO TOMORROW MORNING. I will be going through every possible legal avenue to receive a refund for my initial flight, and I will be bad mouthing this business and deferring all of my traveling friends and family to OTHER services until my death bed. EFF YOU EXPEDIA, I WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU TO INEVITABLY GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

    Never book hotel with Expedia

This happened yesterday 05/24 Booked a hotel at Sheraton Universal City two weeks prior my family visit to Universal Studios Hollywood. When I got to check in at the hotel they canceled my reservation 1 hour before. Expedia never contact me and Hotel Manager was very rude and literally left the office to speak with me and Said “Sorry, just want to let you know we didn’t over sell it” hahah left the lobby that’s it. We had kids and spend lots of money to go Universal studios and had to spend long time to fix the issue. Very frustrating. Called Expedia and they allocated us at a shitty and sketchy Motel, completely the opposite of the hotel I paid for. Never use Expedia again, go Booking.com and you won’t have this type of surprise.

Expedia took $4,600 from my account and made no booking.

Tried to make a booking for 4 people equating to 12k plus but it said that my bank details were incorrect. I double checked and tried the process again 5 times. when I later checked my bank account, expedia had taken $923.25 each time, taking 4,616.25 in total and no booking was made. Each transaction was on "visa hold" When I called the phone service the robot would ask for my booking number or itinerary number to progress but a booking wasn't successfully made so no booking number existed which rendered the phone line useless and kept me going round in circles for hours. When I spoke to an online agent, they tried to tell me that my bank can cancel the visa hold (which is not true). They then kept giving me the same phone number to ring which I explained several times wont work because no booking was made, but they still kept suggesting I call the number. What's true is that banks can't speed up the release of a visa hold, only the organisation being bought from can, they can release the hold earlier. But the agent refused to accept this and refused to pass me to someone that could help. This means that I was without the money that expedia had incorrectly taken 5 times for 5 days meaning that I could not rebook the flight that I needed. My partner also tried it, she couldn't make the booking either. No explanation was given, I lost the flight and had to pay more for a different one. Why would I ever return and try again, why would I ever promote Expedia to anyone.

    I asked for a refund on a cancelled…

I asked for a refund on a cancelled booking more than 2 weeks in advance and hotel attendant offered zero customer service. Don't bother staying at the High Plains Inn they are only good for one thing passing the buck on customer service issues. Expedia stated they attempted to contact hotel multiple times with no response to ask to release funds for a refund on my behalf. I called them and immediately made contact to prove they were lying. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

    No reservation on arrival

I booked a hotel through Expedia and while booking clicked on a button to also purchase trip insurance(15.95). My plans changed and I shortened my stay by 1 night. Expedia charged me $110 penalty for the change. The penalty was $13 more than the night I canceled…. I contacted them and pointed out that I purchased the insurance and they (politely) told me to work it out with the insurance company - they have no connection to the insurance provider and that continues to be an unresolved issue. I received a confirmation email confirmation # 73446038330010, with the revised dates but when I got to the hotel and there was no booking. The hotel had a vacancy so I booked the room, went in and spent over an hour on the phone trying to get my money refunded from Expedia. Expedia dropped my call twice (the 2nd agent called back) so I got to go through everything with 2 separate agents, including entering the above confirmation number no less than 7 times as I worked my way to a human agent. Thankfully the hotel let me book at the same rate that Expedia charged. From now on I will just call the hotel and see if they will let me book directly at Expedia’s rate. I half expect they will typically do so. I received a full refund from Expedia for my effort.

Expedia car rental insurance is fake!

Expedia sold me a car rental with insurance. When I picked up the car at Avis I was told by Avis that it doesn’t cover the car & will not honour this insurance. Avis then sold me car insurance for double I was quoted by Expedia. But by then at the airport I had no choice. Pathetic!!
