Hidden fees and rude staff for money transfer
Tried to send money and got hit with fees I wasn't expecting, which made the total much higher. The person at the counter was really unhelpful and almost rude when I asked for clarification. It was a frustrating experience, and I'll be looking elsewhere for money transfer services from now on.

Long lines and inconsistent service
I've visited a few different Amscot branches, and the experience is pretty inconsistent. Sometimes it's quick and the staff are great, other times I'm stuck in a long line for what feels like ages, and the employees seem overwhelmed. For check cashing, it gets the job done, but prepare for a wait sometimes and maybe a less-than-enthusiastic interaction.

Installment loan process was a nightmare
I tried to get an installment loan here and the experience was just awful. The paperwork was confusing and the person helping me seemed new and unsure. It took forever and then they couldn't even approve me for the amount I needed after all that. Felt like a huge waste of my time.

Cash advance was easy, but interest caught me

Notary service was okay, checkout was slow
I needed a document notarized quickly, and Amscot was able to do it, which was a plus. The notary was professional enough. However, the line to pay and process everything was surprisingly long, and it took quite a while. Good service, but could be faster.

Free money orders are fantastic
I love that Amscot offers free money orders if you cash a check there. It's such a simple, useful service that not many places offer. The staff at the St. Pete location have always been helpful and patient, even when it's busy. Makes paying rent a breeze.

Convenient but fees add up
The convenience of Amscot is definitely there, especially with their long hours and multiple locations. I've cashed checks and used their money order service without issue.
